Success Education SXSW
Joining some of the country’s top leaders, innovators, and game-changers at one of the world’s largest conference gatherings, the LeBron James Family Foundation took its seat on one of SXSW’s EDU track’s most prestigious panels. Sharing key insights into how organizations are proactively preparing disadvantaged kids for college, the panel titled “Planting the Seeds for Success During K-12” featured Eric Waldo, the Executive Director of Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher Initiative & Civic Nation’s Executive Vice President of Education, Jessica Cunningham Akoto, Executive in Residence for the KIPP Foundation, and LJFF’s Executive Director, Michele Campbell. With an abundance of experience, lessons learned, and expertise from across the non-profit sector, the panel was a perfect backdrop to highlight LJFF’s in-depth work with students and families in Akron and its upcoming I Promise School focused on preparing its students for higher education and beyond.
Rooted in a shared commitment to helping students pursue their educations, the panelists were spirited, insightful and passionate about their approaches to this greater mission.
Through its comprehensive and long-term-minded I Promise program, the LeBron James Family Foundation commits its time, resources, and energy into helping the kids in Akron earn their educations so they can believe in and achieve their dreams that are bigger than they ever thought possible.
