On Saturday, with lawn mowers, edgers, and flame throwers in hand (yes, you read that correctly), Teams WKYC, Sculpt, Akron General, and Consolidus kicked off the second year of LeBron’s PROMISE Project.

Does a PROMISE translate to elementary students? What impact does a phone call have, if any? What about a letter?

We all need parachutes. Whether it’s literally or figuratively, parachutes are our lifesaving devices, and there are few people who have more silk lifesavers than the forward from St. Vincent – St. Mary and his Foundation.

Happy new year! 2014 was incredible for my family and me, and that is largely because of the awesome work you have been doing.

Happy new year! 2014 was a BIG year for you and me. All of a sudden, my first class of Wheels for Ed kids became Akron I PROMISE Network students and the leaders of my program.

On December 20, 2014, the school on Maple St. played host to the first ever LeBron James Classic in the newly christened LeBron James Arena.

When Kara’s students fix their eyes on her, there is no doubt she is a hero. The outpouring of care, compassion and support of her students from this Art Educator at Schumacher CLC is contagious.

The comeback story is a simple narrative. The main character suffers a set-back, and in the moment, a recovery seems highly unlikely.

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes.. from all walks of life… and all ages. One of our heroes is a proud teenager from Buchtel High School, where Mrs. Savannah James proudly walked the halls.

The 330 Ambassadors are a select group of students from the Akron area chosen each year by the LeBron James Family Foundation and Akron Public Schools. These students serve as role models for our Wheels for Education (WFE) and Akron I Promise Network (AIPN) kids.

Although LeBron was working in Miami for the past four years, in the words of Foundation Executive Director, Michele Campbell, "The kids would say [LeBron] never left us."

I need you to PROMISE to be a leader and a role model so my Wheels for Ed kids can see the possible within themselves. This is big… it means that you need to do the right thing when doing the right thing is tough. When you’re too tired to study, I need you to pick up those books.
